Is your child with exceptionalities entering their teen years? This is the perfect time to have conversations about sensitive situations your child may experience as they move through the teenage years.
Some topics may be uncomfortable to talk about but are important to help your child to understand and prepare for situations they may encounter. A helpful tool to reinforce appropriate interactions in a given setting is a social (behavior) story.
In our easy-to-use downloadable social stories templates, Watson’s educational consultants help guide conversations around teen issues, specifically for children with special needs, such as: differentiating between friends and “boyfriends/girlfriends”, learning about privacy and what it means to respect someone’s privacy, as well as appropriate behaviors for teenagers.
These behavior social stories may benefit your students. They can be downloaded, saved and edited to suit your needs. The * notation indicates the story is formatted in a Power Point presentation and the ** notation indicates a Power Point with sound narration. Each Power Point has animation included on each slide. Some occur automatically – some occur on a “click”. Feel free to send comments or questions to [email protected].
